Tom Needham
Tom Needham has worked extensively in radio, film, and television. He is the current executive producer and host of WUSB’s The Sounds of Film, the nation’s longest-running film-themed radio show. He also directed the film, Countdown to X-Day, which was recently named Best Documentary at the Long Island Film Festival. Needham produced the popular Manhattan cable show, New York Jazz, which featured jazz legends like Herbie Hancock, Tito Puente, Stanley Jordan, Cyrus Chestnut, and Lionel Hampton. A longtime educator who teaches high school English and media/film classes for the Sewanhaka School District, in conjunction with Long Island University, Needham is the co-creator of The Gumball Film Festival for students and was recently selected to attend Steven Van Zandt’s Rock and Roll Forever’s Summer Institute for teachers. In addition to serving on LIMHOF’s Board of Directors, Needham is the chairman of the Education Board and helped to create the Honorary Advisory Board featuring DMC, John Tartaglia, Dan Zanes, Public Enemy’s DJ Johnny Juice, The Magic Garden’s Carole and Paula, and Steve Burns of Blue’s Clues fame. His board has helped to develop educational programs, concerts, scholarships, awards, and contests. Additionally, Needham serves as the chairman of the Nominations Committee and is working on upcoming induction galas. He lives in Smithtown with his wife, Donna, his three daughters, Chloe, Fiona, and Sierra, and his dog, Harley.
