Laurence Ballareau

Laurence Ballereau is the director of bands at Syosset High School. In addition to leading the wind ensemble, he developed a three-course curriculum for the students who are interested in pursuing a career in the music industry: Commercial Music, Recording for Musicians, Improvising Music. These courses helped the Syosset music department to attain national recognition, including a 2001 Kennedy Center Award and five-time designation as a Grammy Signature School. The wind ensemble, under Ballereau’s direction, has received many Level VI, Gold with Distinction, NYSSMA ratings. In addition to his Syosset career, Ballereau has worked for 30 years as a professional musician. He composes, arranges, and records for himself and independent artists.
