Ronald K. Stair

Ronald started his musical training at 6 when he took accordion lessons. Eventually the other kids made fun of him and he switched to percussion. His percussion skills were far better and he was the NYSMA first chair in Marching Band on the snare drum and First Chair Orchestra on Tympani, which he played through college. During this time he had gone back to keyboards and played the B3 with a number of local bands that consistently lost battles of the bands to the Hassles and the Rascals. After college he was the first tympanist of the Queens Philharmonic Orchestra. Just to clarify, he wasn’t THAT good as at that time that a number of the musicians were unpaid volunteers.

After college he became a consulting actuary and his very early clients included Levon Helm, Laura Nyro and Nicky Hopkins. At any one time his practice represents between 40-50 professional musicians including members of the E Street Band and the Beatles to mention a few. He has also done planning for a number of talent management firms, their CPAs and attorneys.

Ron is the principal and Chief Actuary of Creative Plan Designs, Ltd., which designs custom retirement plans for businesses and self-employed individuals.

Ron was previously on the board of Hope for Youth and PAWS.
