LIVE CONCERT ARCHIVE DONATED TO HALL

A 1TB hard disk with over 20,000 recorded concerts has been donated to The Long Island Music Hall of Fame Research Library by Peter Hedeman of Albertson, New York. The concerts include live recordings aired on WLIR during the 1970s and 1980s as well as recordings from such Long Island venues as My Father's Place, Ultrasonic Studios, The Calderone Theater, Stephen Talkhouse, Planting Fields Arboretum, Malibu, Hofstra University, C.W. Post, Stony Brook University and other locations. Many of the recordings are from the soundboard and are saved in lossless audio formats. By and large, sound quality is superb. Also included in the archive are thousands of concerts recorded around the world.

Among the artists represented in the archive are many Hall of Fame inductees and members including Billy Joel, Gary U.S. Bonds, Joan Jett, Arlo Guthrie, Count Basie, John Coltrane, The Good Rats, Leslie West, Simon and Garfunkel, Eddie Money, Louis Armstrong, Pat Benatar, Blue Oyster Cult, The Ramones, Stray Cats, Vanilla Fudge and more. Other historic performances include those by Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Grateful Dead, Garland Jeffreys, Al Kooper and many others.

At some point in the near future, the Hall will air a podcast to discuss the archive with Denis McNamara, who hosted many of these shows while Program Director of WLIR. The Hall will allow visitors and researchers to listen to these concerts when our museum research center is complete. The concerts will not be available for public, private distribution, for sale or dissemination in any way.

Any inquiries bout the archive should be directed to info@limusichalloffame.org
